Felt making

I ran taster sessions on felting techniques at the Kirkgate Centre, in Shipley in summer 2013. I am planning to run evening sessions at the Otley Courthouse from September 2014.

I love all aspects of felt making! I enjoy exploring different techniques to make a range of items, from wet felting to needle felting. I also enjoy teaching others and passing on the skills of this fabulous craft.

These are felted polystyrene heads. The felt was fixed using sharp felting needles.

Below left is a felt spiral with beads added.

The image of Salts Mill in Saltaire is a felt piece I made back in 2005 on an Art Access course.

Day-long felt-making session in Harrogate on a drizzly Bank Holiday in August.

Once every year, a gathering of people travel from all over the UK to meet for a few days at Ashville College in Harrogate. The 14 men and women met more than 30 years ago through an Open University course and continue to get together annually. I was asked to run some felt-making sessions and here are some of the results.
