Following an exhibition at Shipley Library in 2005 (pictured above), numerous craft stalls, a stint at the Positvely Purple Gallery, and lots of hard work, an opportunity arose to rent a small unit at the South Square Centre in Thornton, Bradford.
Six years on we are still going!
Unique Arts is run as a not-for-personal-profit enterprise - we only just make enough money to cover our meagre costs! However, we are highly regarded by our customers who are increasing by the number. Work by our artists have found new homes in Australia, Bradford Cathedral and numerous homes around the district.
The shop is run by LB (admin, website) and LS (shop manager).
Unique Arts was set up in 2005 as a social enterprise. LB attended the West Yorkshire Social Enterprise School in 2004-5 and won funding from UnLtd to start the business.
